Elevate the Museum

Independence Historical Museum & Art Center launched the event called "Elevate the Museum", a Five-year Renovation Pledge Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise funds to make the 100 year old building more accessible and safer to members and visitors.


Wi-FI is now available in the museum for your use. You can research your family history or other research items.. You can bring your own computer, or use one of the computers available. The WIFI and the coffee bar are open during regular business hours.

Kansas Celebrity Hall of Fame

The Kansas Celebrity Hall of Fame is open daily Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at ICC West located at 2615 West Main Street in Independence. The museum represents famous Kansas celebrities and is free to the public. Enjoy the exhibits of Bill Kurtis, William Inge, Vivian Vance, Jim Halsey and many others.

Art Center

Steve Greenwall's classes: Call the museum for updates. Regular painting days are the second and fourth Mondays. Steve Greenwall classes are on the third Monday - subject to change.

Photo Club

They meet once a month - the second Thursday, at 5:30PM in the Museum. Read more about the club by clicking on the link for the photo club. If you would like to find out more, come to our next meeting. John and Rob would like to hear from you.


Museum Luncheons

Luncheons are held each month on the second Friday at Noon from September through May. Be sure to make reservations each month by calling 620-331-3515. The current month's newsletter lists the menu for the day.
